Why does CA have the most polluted cities in the US?

They have tons of regulations, which clearly are not working. So shouldn’t they practice what they preach, meaning stop with the whole green movement and hippy crap and get your act together

Their eco-bigot minds are so twisted they are often counter-productive.

The reason they have so much pollution is because it is one of the most populated states in the US so there of course will be many more people polluting the air.

they have the most polluted cities because of the way the Ozone works there. instead of dispersing out pollution into other parts of the atmosphere, the weather conditions allow it to hover over major metropolitan areas.

More than one in ten Americans live in California. It’s the most populous state in the union. Moreover, all by itself, if California were an independent nation it would have the sixth largest economy on earth. Even with all of the regulation, it’s hard manage all of that activity.

The report shows several CA cities are at the top of the list for ozone (and some high rankings for particulates). The report does state "The (ozone) problem is statewide because of both California’s exposure to sunlight and a natural geography that allows pollution to hover rather than diffuse to other areas". The problem of particulates is less a California problem than a US wide problem. Another cut at the stats is a bit more balance (link). Given geographic factors and among the highest population densities in the country I’d say high air pollution is inevitable given reliance on fossil fuel burning.

That said, I fail to follow your logic. The air is polluted and CA has regulations so get rid of the regulations??? (Sounds like GOP rational for no financial regulation reform … the banks were weakly regulated and they took stupid risks due to huge profit incentives and negligible risk to themselves causing an economic meltdown, so we don’t need stronger regulations). To me, the report reemphasizes why environmental regulations are essential. Imagine what the situation would be in California if there weren’t current regulations? This is supported by the report noting that pollution levels have fallen in some US cities post regulation.
